RF Link Distance Calculator
Problem Statement
RF Links are hard to predict. Frequency, antennas, output power, and bit-rate (which is related to receiver sensitivity) all have an effect on the link distance and reliability. Experienced radio operators have a feel for the distances achieveable, but some sort of modeling would be preferred in addition to intuition.
Solution Proposal
I have shamelessly nabbed the distance formula given on http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/102/wlan/powervalues-23231.html and rewritten it to work for a more general case.
