Reqs Post Flight

The Post Flight Review will occur within one week prior to every launch. During the Post Flight Review, the sub-systems will review the flight data and explain how all flight data can be accessed by the team and the public.

Each of the following items is expected to be completed before the Post Flight Review:

  • Highlight all launch statistics on the Post Flight Review wiki page - Highlights should include:
    • Max altitude reached
    • % of packets received from each transmitter
    • Min/max temperature both inside and outside of capsule
    • Max velocity (both horizontal and vertical) and altitude in which the velocity was reached
    • Average ascent and descent rates.
    • # of pictures taken
    • Ground distance traveled, separated into ascent distance and descent distance
    • Total flight time separated into ascent time and descent time
  • Plots of all flight data including (but not limited to) should be saved on the VAST server and their locations should be documented on the Post Flight Review wiki page:
    • Temperature (internal and external) vs Alt (or time)
    • Ground speed vs altitude
    • Altitude vs time - Plot both actual and predicted
    • Actual flight track vs predicted flight track plotted on the same map
    • One spread sheet with all flight data logged vs altitude saved in excel format
  • Pictures/video of all critical hardware before and after launch should be stored on the VAST server and their locations should be document on the Post Flight Review wiki page:
    • >1 picture from each side of each capsule (before and after launch)
    • >1 picture of return info card(s) before launch
    • Pictures of all hardware mounted inside the capsule prior to launch and just after recovery
    • Narrated video of launch and survey of recovery site
    • Recorded video interview with each team lead - prior to launch (discuss confidence/excitement prior to launch) and after recovery (compare initial launch results to launch goals)
    • Group picture of all VAST team members involved in the launch and recovery efforts
  • Reflection posted on the Post Flight Review wiki page including:
    • Each team will document reflections of the launch process and design performance on the wiki and be prepared to offer the top 2-3 lessons learned
    • Each team will discuss the outcomes of the flight goals after all data has been processed
  • Data archive
    • All data will be archived on the VAST server with the description of the location posted on the Post Flight Review wiki page
    • All flight pictures will be uploaded on the server and posted to the internet in a publicly accessible location - the location of the pictures and links to pictures will be documented on the Post Flight Review wiki page
  • Summary
    • Project Manager and Systems Engineer will each review the launch and the data an highlight the key accomplishments and lessons learned from the launch and document the insights in a memo posted on the Post Flight Review wiki page.
    • Project Manager and Systems Engineer will identify the most valuable player (MVP) for the launch event and describe how the efforts of the individual were above and beyond expectation and highlight what the actions meant for the launch efforts.
    • Project Manager and Systems Engineer will identify the most effective team. Teams will be rated on organization, preparation, documentation, and reflection.
