AGW PacketEngine is a software TNC platform that allows you to use a supporting suite of applications to work with various digital radio modulation methods.
The supporting application of interest for UI-VAST is AGWUIdigi, which is an APRS Digi and Internet GateWay. Basically it allows the decoding of APRS packets so that the position of various radios can be determined, such as the position of our balloon.
We do not use this software to track during a mission. Instead we use a hardware TNC and another application to find APRS packets of interest. People with their own wide band radio scanners may find it an interesting application to explore during the mission, but none of our software supports computer-based software TNCs such as this application.
