What

VAST file server located at the University of Idaho Ham Radio Shack.

How to use it

++Uploading Files
Get/Install some: Software
Host/IP: files.uivast.com
Username/Passwords can be obtained by contacting Evan Hart

++Downloading/Linking to Files
Type files.uivast.com in a web browser and click through the folder structure as you would on any computer.

Why

Because we have so much data (logs/pictures/videos/documentation/software) that we couldn't host it all on wikidot.com or their servers would implode so we had to setup our own!

Do's * Don'ts

File Structure

  • web - publicly available stuff… this is the same as http://uivast.com
  • web/data - this folder is for data it's the same as http://uivast.com/data/
  • web/data/flights/ - this folder is for flight specific stuff everything below here should be in a folder by the date of the flight. ex YYYYMMDD
  • web/data/manuals/ - manuals
  • web/data/software/ - software that is publicly available (aka freely distributable)
  • web/wiki - is for wiki stuff… you can't write here
  • web/wiki/pics - is for wiki pics… you can put stuff here
  • docs/ More stuff is under here.. you tell me what…
  • docs/software/ - this is private software that is either licensed under the vast name… or created by the vast team and isn't open to the public for use.
