Trajectory Prediction Tutorial
Directions
- Got to Near Space Ventures Online Trajectory Prediction Site
- Enter in the launch date, time, and a call sign (this information does not effect the prediction, the software prints this in the corner of the prediction for your reference)
- Brandy's call sign is KE7PHH-W7
- Pick a launch location from the table below and enter the latitude, longitude and altitude.
- Estimate the Ascent and Descent rate
- Ascent rate usually between 900-1200 ft/min
- Descent rate usually between 900-1200 ft/min
- Enter PUW in for the Wx station ID (this is Pullman)
- Check the box next to the time window you are currently in. The hour range refers to the projected range of the various prediction models and the other value refers to the time resolution of the various models.
- Click submit
- From the drop down box, pick the closest date/time combination for launch (In the winter subtract 7 hours from UTC and in the summer subtract 8 hrs from UTC to get pacific time zone see here for more)
- Enter the text shown in the image into the text box
- Click on get profile
- Click on the option that you are interested in (to see the trajectory plotted on a Google Map, click on the link "Plot Track on Google Maps")
- Go back to main page and adjust launch location and repeat (it needed)
